This is the definitive guidebook covering the sport climbing along the Mijares River Gorge near the town of Olba, which is between the cities of Teruel and Valencia on the east coast of Spain.
Sport climbing in the Mijares River Gorge is relatively new, with most of the development only happening since 2012. This means the limestone rock is still rough with little to no polish. The routes are situated on either side of the gorge meaning both sun or shade can always be found making, hence climbing is possible throughout the year.
The guidebook describes over 400 sport routes mainly in the F6a to F7c grade range that are between 20m and 50m high. The guidebook covers 5 main crags, which are:
- Hoz Del Mijares
- Casucho
- Palomarejas
- Fonseca
- Penas de Santa Isabel
All the routes are shown on colour photo topos. For each sector there is location map, approach information and GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas. Symbols provide additional information regarding ordination, amount of shade, approach time, best time of year to climb, and if it is child friendly.
